Reverend Dr. R. Osbert James

The Reverend Dr. R. Osbert James has been the minister and moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Grenada since May 2002. 

A past student of the Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS), he holds a bachelors degree in Communication Studies from Wingate University, Wingate, North Carolina; a Master of Divinity degree from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, North Carolina and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Doctor James is also a graduate of the Healthcare Chaplaincy through which he did a one level of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at the Brookdale University Hospital, Brooklyn, New York and a one-year CPE residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York, New York.


A native of Grenada, Dr. James grew up in Grand Anse. He is the husband of Anna and the father of Jonathan and Chrystal.

On the Queen’s New Year Honours List for 2020, Rev. James was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for Religious and Community Service.
